Contaminated Soil Traceability
Since January 1, 2023, all anthropogenically contaminated soils that must be managed off-site, outside their site of origin, are subject to the Regulation respecting the traceability of excavated contaminated soils (RCTSCE).
The traceability of contaminated soils is essential to ensure the responsible management of excavated soils transported off-site. This process documents the movement of soils—regardless of their level of contamination—from excavation to their final destination, thereby limiting the risk of contamination spread. By using platforms such as TracesQC, stakeholders can track and record each stage of soil movement.

OUR METHOD

RELEVANCE
Who must use the TracesQC traceability system? Everyone who excavates and transports soils off-site! Whether as part of future building construction, site redevelopment, or environmental remediation work, soil movements must be tracked using TracesQC from the point of generation to their arrival at the disposal site.

PROCESS
The TracesQC platform plays a central role in this traceability process. It is an integrated digital system developed by Québec’s Ministry of Environment (MELCCFP). Information collected through TracesQC includes details on soil identification, chemical analyses, excavation sites, transport routes, and ultimately the final destination of the soils. During excavation work, a technician is present on site at all times to ensure that information is entered into TracesQC.

INTERPRETATION
OF RESULTS
A TracesQC report will be generated and attached to the monitoring report, ensuring the security and compliance of your operation. STRATA can support you in meeting regulatory requirements by managing the entry of generated soils on the platform and certifying their volumes when required.
