RELEVANCE
Accuracy of the Extent of Contamination
Phase III allows for the delineation of a contamination zone identified in Phase II. It also allows for the estimation of costs necessary for potential remediation.
Changes in Environmental Conditions
If changes have occurred on the property (new sources of contamination), it may be necessary to conduct a new environmental study.
Impact Assessment
Phase III can be useful in determining more precisely the impacts of contamination on receiving environments or neighboring properties.

PROCESS
Analysis of Existing Data
Before any work begins, it is necessary to thoroughly analyze data from previous studies. Reviewing analytical results, plans, stratigraphic descriptions, and hydrogeological data provides an overview of the site's environmental situation and helps identify areas that warrant further investigation.
Sampling Work
New field investigations are carried out. Samples are taken at different depths in areas where uncertainty remains.
Analysis of New Data
A new environmental profile of the site is drawn up based on the results. The new results are used in combination with the old ones to reassess the extent of contamination at the site and the costs of decontamination.

INTERPRETATION
OF RESULTS
A detailed report is compiled, presenting the new data, analyses, and conclusions. This report also includes specific recommendations for the management, remediation, or control of the identified risks. Depending on the context, recommendations may include remediation, a declaration of compliance, or legal expertise.
