The foundation is the most important part of any building system. It transfers the loads it supports to the underlying soils or rock. Unfortunately, soils are naturally formed rather than man-made, and natural materials are always complex and non-uniform.

Their properties can vary significantly from one location to another. A geotechnical study of the underground conditions of a site (soils, groundwater, rock) is a prerequisite for the economical design of a foundation system—especially in urban contexts, where the best building sites are often already developed.

In our experience, a proper geotechnical study greatly reduces the financial risks associated with construction defects and can even optimize construction costs.
